Out of 900 applicants, 15 scripts were chosen as semi-finalists, including Amirah's, to produce a 20 second commercial shown in theaters for Coca-Cola led by students.

Winslow Award

2022 

Awarded for Senior Thesis Documentary film Cutting Roses. Awarded annually to a Media Studies major whose senior thesis or senior project is deemed the most outstanding of that year by the program faculty

Shriram Scholarship Recipient

2022-2024

Scholarship awarded to 12-20 full-time graduate and undergraduate students within the School of Cinematic Arts.

AMC Diversity in Media

2021

Semi-finalist awarded for pitching an original film idea with a treatment and pitch tape in front of production executives.

Davis Projects for Peace

2021

Awarded $10,000 grant towards marketing FGM awareness and global project plans to help eradicate FGM. Led multi-pronged fundraising efforts to build counseling centers for women affected by FGM inpartnership with the Hope For Women and Girls Organization in Tanzania. 

Donald A. Strauss Foundation

2020

Awarded a $15,000 grant to produce a documentary based on the first FGM case in the United States. Worked under the guidance of David Fanning, the founder of Frontline. Presented work in progress to the board of trustees of the foundation in April 2021 

T. Howard Foundation Finalist

2020

A mission-driven organization dedicated to increasing diversity in the media industry with 45 corporate partners that represent all areas of the media and entertainment industry.
